hello, Ive got a 1981 rabbit with the 1.6 diesel in it, but I also have on hand a 1996 1.9 TDI motor and a 1990 mrk3 5 speed transmission.  The plan is to drop this engine in, mated to the 5 speed, then convert it to WVO, making it fast, and free.  What im trying to get my hands on now is a PCM for the 1.9, ive got some leads.  My question is this, anyone who has done this, do you have any tips or advice, and are there any special clutch considerations I need to make?  I have a brand new clutch on my 1.6 4 speed, but I am not sure that it is thick enough for this new application.  Thanks

I have a 1981 Dasher, diesel of course, that I'm thinking of replacing the 1.6 with a 1.6 turbo, or if I can find a reasonbly priced 1.9 TDI put it in there. I also would appreciate any input from anyone who has done this. Everything I've read of the NA 1.6 is that its so slow. The car won't start, it turns over but won't fire and rather than putting money into a proven sluggish engine I'd like to upgrade it. The local VW shop (not dealer) says the conversion is very do-able. Any help would be appreciated.
