I just recently bought a a 2000 Jetta VR6, and well, I'm new to all this and I'm finding myself a little lost. I think my power steering fluid is low.. but I can't figure out where to add it or even what kind to buy. Anyone?

When in doubt, consult the manual that comes with the car.

Okay, the pump is located (should be) below the alternator, as far as below the the water pump. The reservoir is almost, if not always on the right side (drivers side) It isn't labelled power steering fluid, but if you open a few and check, it's basically just transmission fluid. It'll be pink but when you go buy it, it'll say Power Steering fluid on the bottle. PS fluid and trans fluid is just simply hydraulic fluid. You can't miss it, you have one for the brake fluid and the power steering, the rest are added through clearly marked locations. I honestly don't see how it would be low, if you bought it from a dealer they will top everything up. But sh*t happens and it could be low lol....what are the symptoms? Are you getting a loud whine from your steering?
