I am thinking of buying a 97 passat with a 4 cylinder, I believe 2.0. The owner says it just died and will not start. It turns over fine but won't fire. As I recall from my old Jetta that there are certain sensors that can cause this. Can anyone point me in the right direction.

I'm not too familiar with the location of it but the crank positioning sensor will cause this if it is bad. Also i have been hearing alot of people having problems with the ECM relay. You might check this as well. The number 3 relay in above the fuse box is the ECM relay. Check out other posts on the ECM relay. They might be helpful.

Hey buddy i have a 97 vr6 im looking to just sell cause im desprite for money 5speed real nice and strong.. write back if intersted!
