I don't know what to say about the massive amounts of sand in your carpet other than be patient and keep vacuuming. As for teh stains on the roof, there are several methods to try and hopefully one will work. The organic method is to try lemon juice on the stain. Sometimes that will get stains out. Another method would be to try Resolve Carpet Cleaner. It works well on stains in fabrics. Good luck with your clean-up and please keep us posted on how it is going.

Just a thought to pass on, When I would get a vehicle in with sand in the carpet , I would remove the carpet, place it on a clean cement drive way and turn the garden hose on it, then use a wash brush and car soap and give it a work out, then hose it clean and hang it out in the sun to dry, it takes a while to get dry enough to reinstall. You didn't say what the headliner was made of, cloth or vinyl. if it's vinyl the stains will be in it good, The way I got the vinyl headliner to look good was use a spray dye on the entire thing. you can purchase it a auto paint stores and they can match it with your headliner color. The dye doesn't work very well on cloth.
