i have a 1997 Volkswagen Cabrio with a six CD changer in the trunk. everything works ok except that the dash control system display is messed up and totally unreadable. looks like somebody smashed it or something. i was wondering if i could get a new CD deck that works with the 97 VW changer. the guy at Best Buy told me he thought Pioneer made the VW players and if i got one of those it might work but a Sony deck would only work with Sony changers etc. the changer is uses a 13pin connector. so long as the deck take a 13pin is that all i need for it to be compatible? is this even possible or would i be better off getting a new/refurbished 1997 VW deck?

its not a real pressing matter but i would like to know if im wasting my time or not.
