I need a drivers side fender for my 98 jetta.  A aftermarket place in town has them dirt cheap.  26.00 dollars.  Is this too good to be true.  I paid more then that for dinner last night.  Any experience with aftermarket would be great.

I have used aftermarket before, it is really not that bad and the price is unbelievable. If I were you I would go to a place called certifit. You can find them at www.certifit.com to see if they have a location by you. They always seem to have the lowest prices. And all aftermarket seems to be the same no matter where you buy it. I'll warn you their customer service is not alway that good because they have always been very busy when I have been in there (they need to hire more people or something).

only real difference (according to my paint and body guy) is that the machines that create the aftermarket body parts aren't calibrated as specifically or carefully, as the OE manufacturer. which is why they sell them for dirt cheap, which means it should fit or being close enough not to notice but at times they arent. My guy wont use aftermarket and i wont either after buying an aftermarket hatch-spoiler that didnt fit at all.
just my experience, good luck

Thanks for the info.  For 26 bucks I'm going to give it a try.  I'll line it up before its painted and if it fits like crap i'll take it back.  If anyones interested I'll post the results here when i'm done.
