I pulled my car into the garage, where it sat for 3 months. My wife did not start it up regularly as instructed. I replaced the battery as it would not accept a charge. The car will only start after about 10 attempts. At this point it starts but revs up to 1500RPM and then drops back down to 800RPM's. It continues to do this gradually increasing the high end rpm's to 3000, then it stalls. I have fuel going into the fuel pressure regulator and the air cleaner is brand new. I cannot find a vacuume leak anywhere. I am at whits end and need some help.........any help is greatly appreciated....

I had kinda the same problem with my 99 Jetta. I was pulling out of a parking lot and it just stalled on me for no apparent reason. I was told it might be the injectors(dirty or clogged) or the fuel filter(old and dirty). even though it hasnt done it since that day ive been keeping my eye on it. I hope that helps!
