Hi, I'm really new to this whole VW forum. I loved my VW. She was my life (yes she was totally a she, named her Betty, pretty cliche but oh well) Anyway, i have a situation on my hands, About 2 weeks ago, i got in a car accident (im fine, just a little hurt) not my fault at all! Scouts Honor! Well, the guy rear ended me going like at least 40 or 50, and like totally smashed the back half of my car. OH by the way its an "old body style" 2005 Jetta GLi. Black. This is my situation, the engine totally fine(which is so sad, because her engine was the best part... for me at least) and the front is fine, rims, tires, engine, and everything under the hood. Interior is good. So my insurance company is letting me salvage it, if i think its worth it. If i salvage it, i'll get about 17,000 if i just take the money, i get 20,000... minus 2,000 for what i still owe, which isn't bad at all. I want your guys' opinion, on if you think i'll get more than 20,000 if i take the 17,000 and sell the parts, i don't know much about cars, but i loved my Betty to death, so i figured to come here, because im sure you guys know way more than i do, about cars. So if you can PLEASE help me!!

you may be able to get about that much but itll be a lot of work to part it out. Depends on whether or not you feel like messing with it.
I'd probably take the money, get all the parts you can get away with and buy another one, haha.
good luck with it, sorry to hear about it, thats a beautiful car, one of my favs.

ps: if you do part it, i really want the vents.
