I just bought a 2004 Jetta.  Could someone please tell me if I can turn off the "door open" and "seat belt not on" dingers?  My mechanic was able to do it for my 98 Jetta, but is afraid he'll screw something up if he tries to do it with the new one.

Thanks.

there should be a fuse that can take care of that. im not real familiar with where and what fuse does what, but usually on most cars there is fuse than you can pull out and shut it off, or you can find the dinger and smash it with a hammer, but id recommend the first one first.

Thanks, boosted.  It's a good thing I don't keep a hammer in the car, because I may have done that already!  :-)

And what's up with my post turning into an advertisement?  Kind of disconcerting.

heh. i have a 97' golf. it has a three toned buzzer that is extreamly loud and when the head lights are left on the rate of tone change increases. drives me crazy! my solution was some foam ruber with an adheasive side placed over the "speaker" of this noise maker. it lessened the effect of driveing me insane by a large amount. i'm uncertain of your configuration but with some access to a wireing diagram and some study you should be able to determine weather or not disableing it would be an issue. but try the foam rubber idea. that way you can get by without altering anything.

Thanks, Rev.  Do you know how I can get my hands on a wiring diagram?
