I have a 96 jetta gls automatic, i have been having some issues that i cant seem to fix. problems: sometimes wont start esp when eng is cold, rough idle, horrible acceleration (more you press the gas the slower it goes) sometimes when driving it starts to shake, pulls at stoplights causing even rougher idle. What Ive done: full tuneup, plugs wires, cap, rotor, cleaned MAF and TB, used injecter cleaner fuel additive. no check engine light, no missing vacuum lines i can find, no nothing. transmission shop said thranny checked out fine and he thought my cat was clogged?!?! any help would be great!

i had some of the same issues with my jetta, and also did a bunch of different things. what it all boiled down to is that the distributor timing was off by 2 teeth somehow, which was causing alot of the problems.the mechanic that helped me find the problem , who knows alot about volkswagens, said he has ran into this problem alot with the jetta's especially in this year range.
