Hey guys, trying to help out my friend. He is looking into getting a 99 jetta but wants to switch engines in it due to the mileage. Any suggestions for engines would be great. He is looking to spend around $2,000 if possible. Thanks!

look in the vwvortex classifieds for a 1.8t or a vr6, whichever he prefers. just make sure you know what you are doing and have everything you need before you pay for anything. im not sure if youd need an ecu for it, and i would recommend re-building the tranny instead of getting a new one. thatll save some cash. if you can find it, look into getting a .:R motor. thatd be sick!
