Hey everyone, I'm new with these boards...so first of all, just thought I'd say hello to everyone. Now back to business. I have a 2000 VW Passat 1.8T GLS. Nice car...I've had it since mid May. My friend hit me last month and I was without my car for most of last month and the beginning of this month. Anyways, one day prior to the accident, my sunroof wouldn't open, and no one could figure out why. Finally, I was told I need a new sunroof switch, which I heard will run me about $50? Okay, thats not too bad, but what I am worried about is I need a new cerpiteme (however you spell it) belt, aka the belt that you can see. My car is making this obnoxious squeak sound whenever I start the car, granted my car does have 105k (almost 106k) miles. So does any one have any idea on how much just the belt itself will cost? My friends said that they would be able to put the belt on for me free of charge, but how much should I be expecting to pay for the belt? Maybe like $80-$90? And also one last thing...when I bought the car, whenever I would start it up, it would make this loud blowing sound. The sound goes away after the car has ran for a little bit, but does start up again on occasion. The previous owner told me its some kind of fan or blower, but I have noticed that the sound is present when my AC is on, but it is not present (as much) when my AC is off. Has anyone else had this kind of issue? If so, what was the problem? I'm thinking it may be the secondary air pump, but I am not positive. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!
