hello everyone, new to the forums and to the vw/beetle line as well i saw a restored 1972 beetle the other day and noticed it was really cool so i have been looking around and have driven a few and that didnt help in me wanting one. just a couple questions 1. i have heard good and bad about vw, overall are they reliable? 2. what kind of problems am i going to need to look for in the older beetles? 3. i have hard they are really easy to work on, is this true? 4. and just for comparing my jeep, what kind of mpg do they get around town and highway? 5. and what year did they start to put AC in these older bugs? my jeep needs a recharge now and i was planning on doing it, i live in utah so it gets pretty hot middle/end summer time any other useful info would be great!!! thanks!

if your wanting to drive it every day id say keep the jeep... for another weekend or every now and then cruise take the bug.. they are easy to work on very true. but the are high maintence require alot of tlc.. and the lack the creature comforts of newer cars that you dont miss until you dont have for about a week.. power steering, AC, power brakes, disc brakes, good e brakes.. but i got one for sale.. check out my ad www.racingjunk.com and search vws
