Hi, i have a 97 Jetta GL, it has 126k. about a few months ago the temperature light has been flashing but the car has been running fine, so i didnt really look into it. About 2 weeks ago my car started to over heat pass the middle mark after I drive about 10-15 minute, but if i turn off the car for like an hour,  it would be ok for about another 10-15.

Whenever it heats up and I stop the car, I notice that the radiator fan isnt on, so I was thinking maybe that was the problem. I also thought it might be a Thermometer problem. Has anyone ever heard of this or has any input?  Help would be appreciated cause thats my only means of transpo and ive just been driving about 10 min a day to the metro and no where else  lol, thanks.

also if i was to get it fixed, should i take it to a dealership or find a regular mechanic?

thanks in advance
