Hey I was looking into purchasing a Jetta TDi and it is a automatic. I was hoping someone could let me know what the pros and cons are with the the automatic vs manual thing. Is there something that I need to look out for if I am going to go automatic?

i have a 2003 tdi automatic and it drives great. 130k miles and still running strong. as long as you keep it well maintained i dont think there should be that much of a difference maybe the manuel gets a little better mpg not sure tho.

I personally like (and have) a manual transmission in my 01 TDI new beetle. For one, you just feel more connected to the car and it makes it more fun to drive. Also I think you generally get more performance from a manual transition.
