Hi I'm new to the Forum, My 01 VW Passat 1.8t started getting a vibration when in idle and in drive (at a Stop). Took it to the dealer the replaced the motor mounts and the inter cooler $1800.00 later the vibration is still going strong. I now think I'm starting to feel it at high speeds. Can anybody help me get to the problem? Thanks, Joe

Did they check the front mount? It's right in the front of the motor at the lower radiator support. Can't imagine the intercooler having anything at all to do with a vibration. The side motor mounts are filled with hydraulic oil, so when they blow, which will cause a vibration, which my 1.8t has as well.

yeah, its got to be a motor mount. did they say why they replaced the intercooler? sounds like they got you on that one. out of balance tire could cause vibration but you'd know whether or not it was a tire or your engine
