[8|] I was wondering if any of you have had this problem or have heard of it?  My friend has told me that at a certain VW dealership that a mechanic is known for taking a customers car home overnight supposedly as a test drive when you take it in for service!  I've never heard of this myself but I never really leave my car anywhere overnight if I don't have to.  I've been told that he has taken his family out in some of the cars occasionally like when they go to dinner or do some shopping after work.  They thought he was just test driving them but it turns out they actually belong to hard working people who probably don't even know this is happening not to mention he is using their gas and adding mileage to their vehicles that is unnecessary! [:o]   I know that at some places they will ask you to sign a waiver of some sort to let you know someone will be taking your car home, but that is rare and most people I don't think would agree to this at all!  It is just about everyday this guy is coming home with a different car and it has been going on for months. So if you take your car in for service at Southern Hospitality make sure that if it stays overnight there that you go by the place and make sure it is still there because if not someone else is taking a joy ride in it or taking their family out to eat in it!

    When I was with VW, on accasion we would be asked to take
a customer's car home for a test, But it would be one of those
things that couldn't be found with out driving a good distance and
at the dealer the tech is on commision and doesn't have the time
for a drive of that nature, he is looking for a certain problem the
customer is complaining about that's not showing up. However
this is not a common thing to do without consent of the customer.

hahaha, dude that's funny. Never actually heard of anything like that I doubt that it would happen. I mean the manager wouldn't allow it unless he himself is doing it. You think someone would report him. If I found out someone was driving around in MY car it'd be over for them lol

iv heard of that too. i ALWAYS write down my millage when i have to leave my car overnight. i just bought a 08 rabbit so i hope that i dont have to do that anytime soon but iv owned 4 mustang gt's and iv had to leave them and iv always been worried about that. im also a locksmith and i got that idiea from someone that had to leave there car with the company i worked for because they brought there car somewhere and the "tech" took it home and ended up totaling it.

  VtecEtr, It's not funny at all, but a fact, seems your world
is some where else, when you sign that work sheet you
just gave permission for the repair shop to drive your car.
And if you showed your arse like you said you would then
you just might be in jail for assault.

nasty08rabbit, your correct about your thoughts, I was
working at a dealer ship and one of the techs totaled a car
but the dealer replaced the vehicle with a new one of the
owners choice in the same vehile line. Hey if you think it
doesn't happen, you better change your thoughts.
